Into the Wild

Outside of my work, I use my free time with different hobbies. So much of them have a mutual interest: the will to escape!

Travels:

So far two travels have particularly impressed me. The will to travel is of course also a chance to visit unique landscapes & places. Beyond this aspect, this is also the chance to meet new people living in very different way of life.

My last travel took place in Togo. At the beginning, while speaking with a friend of my Engineering School, we discovered that we were both motivated to perform relief work training during summer. This is while browsing the web that we found the association SAVOIR TOGO. The main idea: helping children having difficulties at school in a small town in Togo.

What a lesson! Living the same way as all the people of the town during one month, we really faced the every-day difficulties of these people. This was a real human experience that made the trip back to France very difficult. I met wonderful persons and children during this adventure. Today I am thinking that they taught me more than I did.

The second never to be forgotten travel took place in the west coast of the United States of America. This was not just a touristic travel, the purpose was really to meet the population and have a real idea about the way of life of Americans. Medias and TV Shows are conveying too many false ideas about what is America. I just wanted to have my own idea! This is where I met San Francisco’s Firemen, Natives and Rangers. All these people were really kind and so enthusiast to meet young French peoples interested into their life.

Going through the Death Valley (and sleep with a tent right in the middle) with a temperature always above 100°F, hiking deep into the Grand Canyon and walking back during the night with a torch : this was also a real adventure.

Hiking and Climbing :

Being used to hike sometimes during several days right from my childhood, the will to visit wonderful and unique French’s landscape still in me. One week end after another, I had the chance to hike & climb in various places in France. More recently I enjoyed hiking in the Mercantour National Park.

In France, there is a particular activity that we call a “Via-Ferrata”. These are climbing trail accessible to non professional. This is kind of a chance for anyone to try climbing. This is more recently that I discovered the envy to try different Via-Ferratas in France. As of today, I tried at least 10 different Via-Ferratas in France.
